Free Portable Apps

This is a list of free Portable Applications (Apps).  Portable Apps are software programs that either:

* Do not require to be installed onto a computer
* If there is an installation procedure, the newly installed directory can be copied into a portable device and run without dependencies.

Without the installation requirement, these applications are light-weight and ideal to be stored on portable removable storage such as a USB flash drive or portable hard drive to be used on multiple computers.  These applications are ideal for persons traveling and unable to bring their own laptop computers with them.  By using these applications, you can conveniently bring along with your your own bookmarks, email address books, and other personal and important files.  Additionally, there is the added benefit of being able to use a public-use computer without leaving behind your personal data such as where you have browsed on the internet, etc.

Many applications can be made portable easily. Most non-complex applications can be made portable by simply copying and pasting that Program File folder for that application to a USB flash drive.  Do a test run of the application on another PC to confirm it will run as a portable app, running the application right off of your flash drive.

Now you can carry your favorite computer programs along with all of your bookmarks, settings, email and more with you. Use them on any Windows computer. All without leaving any personal data behind.
